Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Lin group fosters a lively yet casual environment, with a strong emphasis on collaborative work. The Computational Biology Program is housed in a lovely campus on Lake Union a short walk from downtown, and a slightly longer walk from the University of Washington. The Lin group is in the newly-remodeled Steam Plant building overlooking the lake.

The lab of Dr. Xueqiu (Chu) Lin in the Computational Biology program at Fred Hutch is seeking one highly motivated research assistant interested in developing deep learning models to decipher the DNA regulatory syntax (e.g., motif syntax) of epistasis interactions in genomic regulation, and would be a good fit for someone with a more computational background.

Responsibilities

• Support and assist the senior computational scientist to develop deep learning models and implement algorithms.
• Assist in the development and refinement of data analysis and integration methodologies and pipelines.
• Generate figures and tables summarizing data outputs.
• Work with research team to document, process, manage and store large datasets.
• Developing and testing bioinformatics software.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science and/or biology
• Be interested in learning more about computational biology and related careers
• Applicants should have experience in a major programming language and a willingness to learn about deep learning and genomic regulation.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $48.09 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
