Company Profile
Chan Zuckerberg Initiative
Company Overview
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, or CZI, is a new kind of philanthropy that’s leveraging technology, community-driven solutions, and collaboration to help solve some of the world’s toughest challenges — from eradicating disease, to improving education, to building community and affordable housing solutions, to reform of the criminal justice and immigration systems.
Company History
Priscilla Chan, a pediatrician and founder of The Primary School in East Palo Alto, and Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, announced CZI the month they welcomed their first child in 2015 — with the goal of helping build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone’s kids. Their idea was ambitious but grounded in the belief that by harnessing technology, we can tackle challenges in new ways and help drive faster progress on the issues that matter most.
