The AIML team at GSK is dedicated to developing and operating advanced AI and machine learning applications and data platforms for both internal and external partners, including biotech firms, data and computing vendors, and large-scale clinical organizations.

Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the operational and technical development of AIML platforms at GSK. The AIML Chief Operations Officer (COO) will oversee the delivery and smooth operation of AI and data platforms, ensuring compliance, security, and user-centric design.
Working in partnership with the Chief of Staff and other technical leaders, the COO will help shape new roles and capabilities within the team, drive global adoption of AIML tools, and provide technical direction for enterprise-wide initiatives. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, bringing deep technical expertise and a passion for operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and operation of AIML applications and data platforms for GSK's external partners and internal teams.
- Ensure all internal AIML platforms are resourced, secure, compliant, and optimized for user experience.
- Collaborate with the Chief of Staff to co-create and develop the operations engineer role, blending technical and operational expertise.
- Steer product operational and requirements meetings, proactively developing and executing operational plans.
- Work closely with the Tech and Data BD team to provide feedback on requirements, security audits, and technical features for global deployment, with a particular focus on China.
- Lead the internal AIML platform team and interface with the Onyx organization, supporting enterprise-wide technical initiatives.
Qualifications/Skills
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ yrs of experience in leading data and computer operations functions.
- Demonstrated background in technical leadership roles, such as Chief Data Officer or Chief Security Officer.
- Recent experience in the provision and operation of computing systems and platforms for biomedical research.
- Up-to-date expertise in LLM security, model serving, infrastructure, and AI-enabled biomedical research initiatives.
Desirable Background:
- Relevant advanced education in computer science, data science, or related fields.
- Experience working in global organizations and collaborating with international teams, especially in China.
- Proven ability to teach, mentor, and develop technical teams.
- Experience in developing predictive tools and reporting for management teams.
